Mancer is made by Doug Lance. The short version: Mancer has no servers of its own that receive your data, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. What your agents say stays on your machines, your devices, and your own iCloud.

The Mac app

The Mac app runs on your Mac. It reads your coding agents from herdr on that Mac and, over SSH connections you set up yourself, on your other machines. Its settings and logs are kept in your home folder. It sends nothing to us.

iCloud

So your iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro can follow your agents, the Mac app saves your list of machines, your agents' cards (their names, status, and the questions they ask you), and your answers in the private database of your own iCloud account. Only devices signed in to your Apple ID can read it; we cannot. Apple stores it under Apple's privacy policy.

iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro

These apps read from your iCloud and send your answers and messages back to your agents, through iCloud or directly to your machines over SSH, using a key the app creates on your device and authorizes on your machines through your iCloud.

• Microphone and speech recognition are used only while dictation is on, to turn what you say into text. Where your device supports it, recognition happens on the device; otherwise Apple's speech recognition service processes the audio. The text goes to the agent you are talking to.
• Camera and photos are used only when you take or attach a photo, which is sent to the machine of the agent you are messaging.
• Notifications are delivered by Apple when an agent needs you.

TestFlight

If you test Mancer through TestFlight, Apple may share with us crash reports, basic usage information, and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send, as described in Apple's TestFlight terms. We use them only to fix and improve Mancer.

This website

trymancer.com uses no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party scripts or fonts. It is served by Cloudflare, which handles each request (including your IP address) to deliver the page and the download, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Children

Mancer is a tool for software developers and is not directed to children under 13.
